This normally depends on the type of hazard and concentration of the airbourne particulate. Generally if your dust mask is used daily in a very dusty environment then the filter should be changed weekly. If used in a less dusty environment the filter will normally last one month. If used infrequently the filter should be changed every three months. By changing the pre-filter regularly it will extend the main filter life.
